Hi, I'm Trudi Case, lawyer and copywriter

With 20 years’ experience in law, initially I worked at Finlaysons and later at Sparke Helmore practising in personal injury, workers' compensation and immigration law. I then worked as a principal policy adviser with the South Australian Government, later joining the South Australian Crown Solicitor’s Office (CSO) practising in administrative law (child protection, nursing regulation and guardianship), energy law and more recently in commercial law and advising.

During my 12 years with CSO, I advised the Department for Education, the Department of State Development (now defunct) and TAFE SA on legal compliance and risk management strategies in the performance of its functions and activities enabling the successful delivery of its programs.

I advised the Department for Education on teacher compliance with copyright laws.

I advised the Department of State Development on the repeal of, and major reforms to, State legislation.

I advised the then South Australian Training and Skills Commission on the apprenticeship and traineeship scheme including compliance with employer registration and training contracts.

I worked closely with TAFE SA on work, health and safety compliance, student enrolment, enforcement of outstanding student fees and beer brewing excise obligations.

I worked with the Office of the Small Business Commissioner advising on its statutory obligations and drafted financial authorisations.

I worked with the Office of the Technical Regulator and the Jurisdictional System Security Coordinator advising on their responsibilities and compliance under the South Australian gas and electricity legislation and the National Electricity Law.

I've drafted and negotiated government and TAFE SA contracts for grant funding, goods and services, IT, software as a service, assignment/licensing of intellectual property rights and leasing.

More recently, I ran a legal practice drafting small business contracts for the supply of goods and services, privacy policy and collection notices, consultancy and independent contractor agreements. I advised small businesses on their intellectual property rights, Australian Consumer law obligations and privacy matters.

I have drafted website content, blogs and brochures for small businesses. I have had stories published in Mindfood and SA Weekend Magazine.

Take a look at my blogs and published articles. I hope you find them helpful.
